is SATC more about lifestyle or fashion – as fans mourn the loss of Samantha in the shows reboot, perhaps it was the sex that we preferred over the city?
will it be the same without Samantha, probably not – perhaps this is the pivotal friendship moment when people move on, will she be discussed on the reboot for us to get our ms jones fix, or will she be left like an elephant in the room and 10 episodes later when the final credits roll – we are still left wondering. do we have to live in the past, can we take SATC for what it is now – do we need this revival. its hard to judge – because in my heart we are all scream yes!
absolute carrie feels.
for me it was the fashion – that first hit of Patricia fields styling and the instant understanding of the relevance of clothes, the editorial documentation from Carrie and the desire of a Manhattan lifestyle – to this day when I walk the streets of soho, the meatpacking district or through the west village, i still get that memory of when I first dreamt of travelling stateside. I really do love the romance of the American dream, the bright lights of the city and the overwhelming urge to instantly adopt their colloquialisms of the English language. I fall straight into the fantasy of living as a New Yorker, hailing a cab – avoiding puddles, walking through the steam of the subway and straight into Barneys.
even now in front of my computer I’m getting the absolute carrie feels, as I document my own thoughts, I’m catapulted to her townhouse apartment. perhaps we do need this revival, I think I do – if not for the show, but for the feeling it gave me, for the way I feel now – and most of all how I know I will always feel thanks to them.
